Privacy Policy
Effective October 17, 2026
YouTube Time Marks is a browser extension that lets you save time marks with comments on moments of YouTube videos and block videos and channels. This page explains what data we store, why, and how to delete it.
In short
- Without signing in, your marks and blocks are stored only in your browser and are not sent anywhere.
- After you sign in with Google, our server stores your email and your marks — nobody else can see them.
- We do not sell data, show ads, or share data with third parties.
- You can delete your account with all its marks at any time with the “Delete account” button in the extension.
What is stored in your browser
In the extension’s local storage (on your computer): marks created without signing in, the list of blocked videos and channels, the block password hash (the password itself is not stored), settings, and the session token after you sign in. This data is removed when you uninstall the extension.
What is stored on the server after you sign in
| Data | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Email and Google account ID | Recognize you when you sign in on any device | As long as the account exists |
| Marks: YouTube video ID, time, comment, video and channel title, duration, dates | Show your marks on any device | Until you delete them or delete the account |
| Sessions: token hash, client type (extension, app), dates | Avoid asking you to sign in on every request | Until you sign out, no longer than 180 days |
| IP address hash and request counter | Abuse protection (rate limiting) | Overwritten every hour |
| Support requests: email, topic, message, browser | Answer your question | Up to 12 months after the reply |
| Web server logs: IP address, request URL, time | Error diagnostics and security | Standard server log rotation |
Other users cannot see your marks: the server returns marks only to their owner.
Google sign-in
When you sign in, we request only your email and account ID from Google (the openid and email scopes). We do not get access to YouTube, Gmail, Google Drive or any other account data.
The use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What the extension sees on YouTube
The extension works only on youtube.com pages. It reads the ID, title and channel of the open video, the current playback time, and the video cards in the feed — to place marks and hide blocked content. Your watch history, search queries and other activity on YouTube are not stored or sent anywhere.
Deleting your data
- A single mark — the ✕ button in the panel on the video page or on the “My marks” page.
- The whole account — extension popup → “Delete account”. The account, all marks and sessions are deleted from the server immediately.
- Local data — uninstall the extension from your browser.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date. We will notify you about significant changes in the extension.
